The Downwind Series is a nod to the aesthetics of the past, married with the materials of modern day. The caper design is meant for those close-up moments of the breakdown process, featuring jimping on the end of the blade and an oversized choil to choke up for detail work. Reach for this blade shape when more intricate cuts are needed.
The blade is made from 7Cr steel. A good type of steel that is easy to sharpen. The handle of the Downwind collection stands out. It is namely made from layered G10 that provides you with a lot of grip. The handle is shaped as such that the material is placed around the steel of the handle. This doesn't only look amazing. It is also user-friendly! As such your hand will never get in contact with the cold steel. Great in winter or cold areas. It also feels comfortable in hand and offers you enough grip.
For the more precise tasks Gerber added ridges to the blade and the handle. You put your thumb or index finger on top during use to make sure you don't slip.
Each knife from the Downwind collection comes with a canvas sheath. This sheath is enhanced with a wax layer to protect it from external influences. The knife is kept in place with the help of the press-stud.
